Free Trial Offers

When I ordered something off tv, the consultant offered to sign me up for trial memberships for Value Plus and Savings 2 Go. Both offered to send gift cards and I have to send in forms for them to mail the cards to me. I want to cancel my trial membership though as soon as possible so that I’m not charged the monthly fee for each. If I cancel both of them before sending in the gift card forms will I still get the cards?

The first time I agreed to one of these offers, I was charged on my credit card, not 30 days after I recieved the product but 30 days after the phonecall. Now, unless they think I’m going to get their product in the mail the same day, I don’t know how they can think that that’s 30 days. Anything going through the mail takes at least 3 days. Most likely 5 not counting weekends and holidays. I once signed up for a video rental with a 2 week trial but I didn’t get the 1st video til 3 wks.
Its obviousley a big lie, so should there be a law that they wait at least 3 days after you agree to the trial before they start counting 30 days before charging you, or that the company tell you upfront and not waste your time until the end of the call (or internet application)
A better rule would be that they have to confirm that you recieved the product tracking number.
whitefan, you’re missing the point. It isn’t 30 days free if I dont have it for 30 days.
